The Din Tai Fung Legacy
The founder of Din Tai Fung was Bingyi Yang, born 1927 in China's Shanxi Province. He started his first job in Taiwan as a delivery man at a cooking
oil store, "Heng Tai Fung". Being appreciated by the owner, he was put in charge of the accounts for the oil store after 2 years of service.
In 1948, Yang was left unemployed and started his own oil store by buying wholesale oil from "DinMei Oils". To show his appreciation to the owner's
of Heng Tai Fung, Yang decided to name his store - Din Tai Fung. Din Tai Fung quickly established itself in the oil market and soon bought a shop
front on Xinyi Road and this is the site of Din Tai Fung's original restaurant.
When tinned oil went on sale around 1980, sales at Din Tai Fung plummeted. Taking advice of his friend, Yang and his wife turned one half of the shop
to making and selling steamed dumplings. The quality and exceptional taste of their steamed dumplings soon attracted many customers and the business
took off with strong word-of-mouth. Din Tai Fung soon stopped selling oil and became a full-fledged restaurant. This was the beginning of an
international brand - Din Tai Fung.

Famous for its delicious and healthy house specialties – Din Tai Fung is renowned for its Xiao Long Bao meat dumplings. In 2003, the Group won the franchise rights to
operate the Din Tai Fung brand of restaurants in 2003. With an emphasis on fresh quality ingredients and superior cooking techniques, Din Tai Fung's food preparation
and cooking methods have been standardized worldwide with a view to quality preservation. In Singapore, customers can relax amid our restaurants’ elegant décor, and
relish mouth-watering dishes such as Shanghainese drunken chicken, fried pork chop, steamed chicken soup, not forgetting our hearty and flavourful dumplings.
Currently, the Group operates 10 Din Tai Fung restaurants in Singapore - Paragon, Junction 8, Tampines Mall, Wisma Atria, Raffles City , Jurong Point, 313@somerset, Baits @ Resorts World Sentosa, Marina Bay Link Mall and nex @ Serangoon Central.
