On 4 February 2025, BreadTalk Group hosted our annual Lunar New Year Community Lunch for more than 100 seniors. This event was in partnership with Care Community Services Society Singapore, and we were honoured to have Ms Tin Pei Ling, Grassroots Adviser to MacPherson SMC and SG Cares Lead Adviser to Geylang Town, grace this meaningful event.

Not only did the seniors have a scrumptious meal served by our friendly BreadTalk Group volunteers, the live singing performances and stage games hosted by well-known local getai singer and emcee, Pei Fen, also brought a smile to everyone’s face.

Giving back to the community is important to us at BreadTalk Group. This holiday season, we were excited to bring some Christmas cheer to the children at Canossaville Children and Community Services. Our staff volunteers and chefs hosted a fun afternoon with two hands-on workshops: cookie decorating and Xiao Long Bao making. It was a chance for the kids to get creative, share laughs, and enjoy the festive spirit, all while making new memories with our team. We were also happy to have Mothership join us as volunteers, adding to the warmth and joy of the day. It was truly special to spend time with the kids and to bring laughter and holiday magic into their lives!

We are proud to support VIVA Foundation for Children with Cancer in their research, medical care and education work for young warriors battling cancer.

During the VIVA Fiesta 2024 – Dreams of Tomorrow fundraising concert held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 4 August 2024, we had the pleasure of providing a variety of freshly baked buns to fuel and uplift the dedicated VIVA volunteers, concert performers, backstage crew, and beneficiaries.

Our support for inspiring causes like VIVA’s reminds us of the strength in community and teamwork – big and small. Together, we can truly make a difference for these courageous children and their families by providing hope and support!

Food Republic, Food Junction and Singapore Red Cross are #PartnersForHumanity! Through the ElderAid programme, we recently treated 20 seniors to a meal at Food Republic City Square Mall, providing companionship and joy to those at risk of social isolation.

During the event, our staff volunteers engaged the seniors in a relaxing colouring activity. Selected artworks will feature on special edition takeaway cups, available at all Food Republic and Food Junction outlets this September. Each cup will include a QR code linking to our donation page, encouraging diners to support our cause.

Funds raised will empower Singapore Red Cross to continue its vital humanitarian work, benefitting isolated seniors, youth-at-risk, persons with severe disabilities, and migrant workers.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, BreadTalk Group, in partnership with Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru CCC and Tiong Bahru CC was delighted to organise a charity lunch on Friday, 16 February 2024 for 100 seniors from the Tiong Bahru community. Over 60 BreadTalk Group staff volunteers and management members were involved – bringing warmth, joy, and smiles to the seniors as we celebrated ‘Ren Ri’ (the 7th day of Lunar New Year) together at BreadTalk IHQ!

We also thank our Guest-of-Honour, Minister Indranee Rajah and Tiong Bahru CC Chairman Kenneth Seet for gracing the event and accepting our donation of $20,000 to the Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru CCC Community Development and Welfare Fund to support the less-privileged.

Together with Primary 5 students from Yu Neng Primary schools, volunteers from OCBC and BreadTalk kick started a 3-month pilot program to turn cake trimmings into organic fertilisers through composting. The first run of the pilot project aims to produce 1200kg of compost, which will be distributed to the gardening community via NPArks as well as to support fund raising efforts for the bank’s selected charities.

We hope this will inspire them to sprout more new inventions to come.

A firm believer in giving back to the society, Dr George Quek, Chairman of the BreadTalk Group, has been driving philanthropic efforts at his Alma Mater. As the Chairman of the Xinmin Secondary School Advisory Committee, he led the committee to garner strong support from the community to bring the $4.5 million Creative Arts Complex to fruition.

Our chairman has helped the school bring arts education to a higher level of development and outreach for its students. The Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently conferred the ‘Service to Education Award’ – an award given to members of the public who have come forward voluntarily to make significant contribution to the schools.

The Annual Singapore Day Event is organised by the National Population and Talent Division of the Prime Minister’s Office to reunite Singaporeans living overseas with a taste of home. Food Republic supported Singapore Day in Shanghai 2015 and San Francisco 2016 with a special curation of local hawker fare for fellow Singaporeans to bond and relive their fond memories of home.

We will stay creative and innovative, as we have demonstrated over the years while on our mission to preserve food heritage and bringing cross-cultural food experiences from around the world, while leveraging on tomorrow’s technologies to continue to push the envelope.

The BreadTalk Group answers the call to preserve rich Teochew culture, especially by resonating with the younger audience.

Encouraged by the successful revival of over 70 year old heritage bakery Thye Moh Chan in 2012, the Group actively supported the biennial Teochew Festival 2014 which saw more than 100,000 visitors. A first-of-its-kind event, the festival brought glimpses of exquisite crafts, performing arts and sumptuous cuisine to life across 30,000 square feet of at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. Besides intricate pastries from Masterchefs at Thye Moh Chan, the Food Republic team supported the Teochew Food Street which showcases the signature delicacies from local and overseas vendors all the way from Swatow in China.

Instituted in 1983, the Patron of the Arts Awards by the National Arts Council celebrate and recognise organisations and individuals who have contributed significantly towards the development of the arts. The BreadTalk Group has received awards and nominations across different categories over the past few years, as a nod towards the Group’s efforts in stimulating the flourishing arts scene in Singapore.
